isn’t - haven’t don’t etc. (Negative):

 

We use not (isn't) in negative sentences: 

positive:  

* am am not ('m not). 

* is is not (isn't or 's not).

* are are not (aren't or 're not). 

* was was not (wasn't). 

* were were not (weren't). 

* have have not (haven't). 

* has has not (hasn't). 

* will will not (won't). 

* can cannot (can't). 

* could could not (couldn't). 

* must must not (mustn't). 

* should should not (shouldn't). 

* would would not (wouldn't).

negative:

O I’m not tired.

O It isn't (or It's not) raining.

O They aren't (or They're not) here.

O Julian wasn't hungry.

O The shops weren't open.

O I haven't finished my work.

O Sue hasn't got a car.

O We won't be here tomorrow. 

O George can't drive.

O I couldn't sleep last night.

O I mustn't forget to phone Jane.

O You shouldn't work so hard.

O I wouldn't like to be an actor.


Don’t / doesn’t / didn’t:

positive             ->                 negative:

   1. I want to go out. -> I don't want to go out.

   2. They work hard. -> They don't work hard.

   3. Lisa plays the guitar. -> Lisa doesn't play the guitar.

   4. My father likes his job. -> My father doesn't like his job.

   5. I got up early this morning. -> I didn’t get up early this morning.

   6. They worked hard yesterday. -> they didn’t work hard yesterday.

   7. We played tennis.-> we didn’t play tennis.

   8. Emily had dinner with us. -> Emily didn't have dinner with us.


Make these sentences negative:

   1. He's gone away. He hasn't gone away.

   2. It's cold today. It isn’t cold today.

   3. They're married. They aren’t married.

   4. We'll be late. We won’t be late.

   5. I've had dinner. I haven’t had dinner.

   6. You should go. You shouldn’t go

You ask Gary some questions he answers yes or no. Make sentences about Gary, positive or negative:
